Ogwang Clipper – Body pains
Saturday, June 28th, 2014
Ogwang Clipper: “This song is about acute body pains. The pain is not seen, it is a syndrome and I need to be taken to an x-ray machine for investigations. This disease has affected me right from my lap to the head. I need to get a powerful hospital and a medical doctor. I should not stay at home.”
Ogwang Clipper plays ‘nanga’, a traditional instrument with seven nylon strings in a wooden box. Clipper is one of the most experienced and respected nanga players in northern Uganda. He performs with his female counterpart on vocals and his dancers with whistle and bells. Even his broken foot in plaster didn’t keep Clipper from coming all the way from his village to Kitgum town to perform this song.
